TaleMe, at app.talelab.ai, is interactive fiction for adults: you talk your way through a story and it answers. This page explains what we collect when you use it, why we collect it, who processes it for us, and how to have it deleted.

What we collect

  • Your account. Your email address. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, that provider also shares your account identifier, name and profile picture with us. We never see your Google or Facebook password.
  • Your profile. Your display name, gender, who you want to chat with and the name characters call you, if you set them, and when you confirmed that you are 18 or older.
  • Your stories. What you write, what the story writes back, including the pictures and voice clips made for it, and your progress, such as which scene you are in.
  • Your collection. Stories you save or like, and pictures and videos you save from chats, are stored with your account so you can access them on your other devices. Saving does not make them public.
  • In your browser. Cookies that keep you signed in, and a copy of a message you have sent but that has not been answered yet, so that reloading the page does not lose it.
  • Service records. Our servers record requests, such as your IP address, browser type and the time, to keep the service running and secure.

How we use it

We use it to run the stories you play and keep your library, to keep the service secure and prevent abuse, and to find and fix problems. Fixing problems can include people on our team reading stories to improve how they are written. We do not sell your data, and there are no ads.

Who processes it for us

These companies process your data on our behalf, only to provide the service:

  • Vercel hosts this website.
  • Amazon Web Services runs the story engine and stores pictures and voice clips.
  • Supabase stores accounts, profiles, stories and your saved collections.
  • AI model and voice providers generate the story's replies, pictures and voice clips from your messages and the story so far.
  • PostHog provides product and website analytics.
  • Google signs you in, if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Meta (Facebook) signs you in, if you choose to sign in with Facebook. We request your basic public profile and email address to create and identify your TaleMe account. Meta may also receive the limited advertising measurement data described below while measurement is enabled.

Their servers are mainly in the United States.

Optional advertising measurement

Advertising measurement is enabled only after you allow it. You can change it in Account & privacy on your profile or below. We store active campaign identifiers for up to 90 days and retain a browser refusal for up to one year. We use PostHog to measure website use. While advertising measurement is enabled, we send Meta only registration completion and confirmed diamond purchases, an advertising click identifier when available, a hashed account identifier, and purchase amount and currency. We do not send Meta your chats, stories, characters, profile preferences, email, or private page URLs.

You can decline or turn this off below without affecting your account or purchases. Turning it off stops future conversion capture and suppresses transfers still in our server queue; data already transferred cannot be recalled. Signing out or switching accounts disables advertising measurement. A saved refusal stays off until you explicitly enable it again. This preference applies to this browser; clearing its cookies or using another browser removes that saved preference. Browser Global Privacy Control is treated as a refusal.

Adults only

TaleMe is only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, email us and we will delete it.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account and stories for as long as your account exists. To get a copy of your data, or to delete your account and everything in it, email us from the address you sign in with. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your data, and you can use them the same way.

For Facebook Login data deletion, email from your TaleMe sign-in address with the subject "TaleMe data deletion". Ask to delete your account and its associated Facebook Login data. We may ask you to verify ownership before processing the request. Removing TaleMe from Facebook's Apps and Websites settings disconnects Facebook Login; contact us to delete data already stored in TaleMe.
